ORIGINS began as a magazine documenting community stories and tracing the roots of environmental action through the people leading change. It has since grown into a broader space for storytelling and creative expression, where community members, partners, allies, volunteers, supporters, and staff alike can contribute works in different forms and help build a shared record of resistance and hope for a more just and livable world.

In this Pride edition of ORIGINS, creative works trace how queer people learn to see themselves, find one another, and claim belonging in a world that often tries to define or overlook them. Through literature and art, LIFEFORMS: The Faces of Pride brings lived experiences of joy and resistance into conversation with the living world.

As climate and environmental crises deepen existing inequalities, these works reveal how queer justice is tied to questions of safety and recognition. They also remind us that nature itself exceeds rigid categories, inviting us to imagine a more just future where every form of life can belong and flourish.
