“I want you to feel the fear I feel every day. And then I want you to act. I want you to act as you would in a crisis. I want you to act as if our house is on fire.” – Greta Thunberg
It’s happening – people are coming together from all over the world to send a strong message to global leaders: our climate is breaking down and it’s time to start acting like it.
On September 27, millions of people will take to the streets to act on the #ClimateEmergency in a global strike for the climate. In over 2,400 events taking place all over the world, millions of people will walk out of their classrooms, workplaces and homes to join together and demand climate action and climate justice.
Young people and adults alike will be sending global leaders the message that our house is on fire and calling on them to do what the science clearly tells us must be done: get off fossil fuels, cut emissions in half, respect indigenous rights, stop plastic pollution at the source and support a smooth transition to a green economy.
In Canada, there’s no better time for a Global Strike as our government has just called the next federal election. Now is the time to send a strong message to candidates that the Climate Emergency is a major concern to Canadians. Business as usual will not take us off our current path towards ecological and social catastrophe. Drastic climate action is the only option.
Are you ready to send that message? Join the strike at a local event near you on September 27th and look for the Greenpeace team on site, we will have exciting activities!

Students in Prague, Czech Republic went on the street to strike on 15th March 2019

Greenpeace Canada is part of a network of workers, artists, Indigenous leaders, scientists, youth, and people directly impacted by climate catastrophe — from cities and towns, businesses and communities, working beyond our political differences and in solidarity with Indigenous peoples — who want to ensure a safe world for our children and all generations after that.

I am a 76 year old great grandmother and I will be participating in the climate strike on September 27 in Ottawa. All you grandparents out there come and join the movement to keep our beautiful planet alive for our children, grand children and great grandchildren.
I am bombarded with memories and emotions as I learn of Edmonton Youth for Climate. Koodos to you all!! I grew up in the 60’s and remember all to well walking and demonstrating for a cause. I’m in my mid 60’s now but damn rights I’ll walk with you September 27th! Be there or be square as we used to say. Peace.
Drastic climate action must be undertaken, from us as individuals to the global community for the survival of our home, the planet. I'll be joining our Rally on Salt Spring Island, BC, Canada.
I will do my best to be there:) Cynth.
Winnipeg, Manitoba is also having a strike if you wanted to add that to your list!

My Vancouver activist band (the Carnival Band) will attend rally on 27th. Requesting a contact number in order to coordinate/organize our involvement. (We are ++ experienced at leading large crowds, etc. but need direction.) Could someone get back to me? Many thanks!
Great,Greanpeace,Greta. I may be old, I may be slow, I be with where you go.
It is high time for all to stand against any action that goes against natural setting of our planet
I am travelling in Newfoundland. Are there any strikes planned there on the 27th?
Hey! Winnipeg also: https://allevents.in/winnipeg/global-climate-strike-wpg/200017770604100
For sure I will go! I'll be in Montreal, and I hope we will be hundreds of thousand to show our politicians that this it the priority #1 for Canada and the world! Priority #2 will be to solve the biodiversity crisis!
For health and transportation reasons, I can't participate in the Ottawa march but I am so happy and proud that young people are starting what I hope will be a global wave to do something immediately about the changes in our climate and disrespect for the well being of our planet. We have been gifted with a beautiful world that we damage every day. It was not designed to cope with our technology, waste and unkindness. I pray that radical changes will come about. You are so right that we can't afford to wait until governments get around to addressing this dire situation. We are on a time crunch. This should and must be the most important issue for every country and every human being. It's something that affects us all and is a problem that we should each try to resolve. Even small changes can make for huge results.
WE MUST INSIST THAT ALL LEVELS OF GOVERNMENT LEGISLATE INTERNATIONAL AND LOCAL INDUSTRIES TO STOP THEIR THREATS TO THE DESTRUCTION OF OUR PLANET . TAX PAYER $$ SUPPORT MUST STOP- ESPECIALLY TO FOSSIL FUEL INDUSTRIES. IN THIS ELECTION CAMPAIGN ALL PARTIES SHOULD MAKE CLIMATE CHANGE NUMBER ONE! ALL OTHER CONCERNS WILL NOT EXIST IF CLIMATE CHANGE CONTINUES - AND NOR WILL WE. WE MUST ASK ALL CANDIDATES AND ALL PARTIES WHERE THEY STAND. WE MUST BOMBARD GOVERNMENTS AND INDUSTRY LEADERS WITH LETTERS OF CONCERN - THEY HAVE KIDS TOO !
I have marked my calendar, and plan to join the demonstration in London, Ontario, on September 20th.
I will go with my friend to the Climate Action in Toronto at Queen's Park on September 27th. We have to act now before things get much worse! Carol
Keep up your good work and we hope there is tremendous support next Friday in Canada. We did ours in Britain yesterday.
i say to myself to take actually part in activities.. i want to have job at greenpeace at minimum survival wage..seriously..
hey folks. It is great that there is more awareness about climate. weather and pollution. Right now would be a good time for individuals to make changes in their own homes and backyards to support the change you want to see. Are you upset with landfill and ocean issues then don't buy plastics. Don't eat at places with plastic anything. Put pressure on your favorite fast food joint. Things can make a difference at a micro level. Don't golf at sprayed courses, buy recycled items. If you hate the land being lost to cattle production then stop eating meat. Look at yourselves first and be that change. Demonstrations are wonderful but you have to be the role model for the cause.
The biggest threat to the environment are the meat and dairy industry. People have the power to stop global warming without the gov lifting a finger but just like smoking they take no personal responsibility
I am also a 75 year old Granny of 8 beautiful souls. I will be walking & shouting with my placard on September 27. Growing up on a free range farm,I drank water from streams, ate apples off trees & surfed in an Atlantic free of plastic.I had my Greenpeace headband & marched against the Vietnam war & against Cruise missiles entering Cornwall, England. The war ended (the U.S.A. was running out of grandchildren who were old enough to fight.)Missiles never did get housed on Cornish soil! Support our youth of the world for they are the poeple who will inherit all we leave behind. They, their children ,& ? Their children have DONE NOTHING TO DESERVE OUR LEGACY OF GREED & DESTRUCTION. Come on Grannys & Grampys, Opas & Omas , Uncles & Aunts, Cousins friends, if you cant walk PLEASE write to your governments.
I would like if the strike begins in Bangladesh
I believe we are all worried about the future. I want my children and grandchildren not to have to suffer from the effects of climate change. We all need to help shape a positive future by reducing our consumption and demanding change from companies and governments. Please everyone do your part before it’s too late.
