Do you love nature and feel driven to lead efforts to protect and restore it? Do you believe that human society can be more sustainable, fairer, more inclusive, and a better guardian of its living environment? Come and help us leverage the resources and experience of a leading environmental activist organization in the Czech Republic and globally.

We are looking for an experienced Campaigner to take a leading role in program portfolio we are building/creating for the next few years, responding to key local and global environmental challenges in the spirit of a people-powered organization. We envision this role as providing team leadership and overall strategic direction, with opportunities for more independent technical work related to the Greenpeace mandate.

Greenpeace is an independent international environmental organization active in 55 countries for more than 50 years. Our aim is to protect the environment and prevent its damage by non-violent methods. We bear witness to global environmental problems, demand remedies from responsible institutions and offer solutions that are crucial for our health and a secure future not only for ourselves but also for future generations.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Leading or technically supporting campaign strategy design
  • Mentoring junior Campaigners and encouraging their professional growth
  • Leading the collaborative design of the programmatic section of our next 3-year strategic plan
  • Managing program human and financial resources at a strategic level
  • Conducting direct advocacy and networking with partners and stakeholders
  • Representing the program on the organizational Steering Committee and participating in leadership decisions that guide the organization
  • Leading the program team and allocating resources and capacities (research, networking, campaigning) across concurrent projects
  • Developing or reviewing critical media outputs, including personally representing the organization where appropriate
  • Leading a cross-functional team in developing a complementary portfolio that reflects current developments as well as the capacities and needs of the organization
  • Liaising with global Greenpeace program leadership and identifying meaningful forms of coordination

What We Are Looking For:

Must Have:

  • Proven experience leading complex campaigns (preferably on environmental issues), covering all major components of a successful campaign — e.g., direct advocacy, topical research, public mobilization both online and in person, media and stakeholder communication, collaborative and confrontational negotiation, and legal instruments
  • Demonstrated experience with campaign and project strategy design and implementation
  • Genuine interest in global environmental issues and familiarity with processes for their resolution
  • Full professional fluency in both English and Czech or Slovak
  • A demonstrated track record of leading a small to mid-sized team across more than one initiative
  • Curiosity and willingness to champion and support innovation, including drawing on the wider Greenpeace network
  • At least 2–3 years in roles requiring effective communication and collaboration in high-pressure situations demanding fast but well-informed decisions

Desirable:

  • Knowledge of and familiarity with the environmental NGO landscape in Czechia, with a track record in relationship building and networking
  • A solid (though not specialist) understanding of the Czech political landscape and legislative and policy processes
  • Experience with fundraising organizations and the interaction between program (campaigns) and fundraising functions
  • Project or program management experience and/or knowledge of monitoring and evaluation frameworks
  • Direct experience volunteering or working with teams of volunteers
  • An educational background or long-term experience in ecology or environmental sciences
  • Experience working specifically on topics related to biodiversity and/or climate protection, energy, and just transition
  • Prior media visibility or experience as an organizational spokesperson

We offer:

  • A responsible position in an internationally active environmental organization
  • A modern understanding of leadership
  • Opportunities for personal growth and professional development
  • Involvement in the global Greenpeace community
  • Four-day work week (32h/week)
  • Flexible working hours and the possibility to work partly from home
  • Office in central Prague where children and pets are welcome
  • 5 weeks of vacation and 4 wellbeing days per year

Greenpeace is an inclusive employer who supports diversity. We value differences between people, promote equality and fight discrimination. This strengthens the impact of our organization. We welcome anyone who shares our respect for people and nature.
