Create a Solar Revolution in India!
We are closer to a solar revolution and the Central Government has finally agreed to release Rs 46,000 crore for both KUSUM (Kisan Urja Suraksha Evam Utthaan Mahaabhiyan) and Solar Rooftops. Greenpeace India supporters, volunteers, activists, have all campaigned tirelessly towards this over the last few years! Solar pumps will not only help farmers to earn extra income but also provide steady electricity access and generate positive externalities for groundwater. Solar rooftops, meanwhile, can reduce electricity bills of households across towns & cities. But implementation will be key to our solar success. State Governments need to make sure farmers & citizens have access to loans, fair rates, and reliable equipment from trusted contractors.
