The pre-COVID-19 ‘Normal’ has always been unequal and unresponsive. Recovery and rebuilding the system needs to ensure a New ‘Better Normal’ which ensures justice, inclusion, care, wellbeing, and welfare for all humans, other life forms, and the planet as a unit.

For that, we need participatory, holistic, and comprehensive systemic changes that make humanity and nations resilient in the face of further environmental, economic, or health crises.

It’s time for a new deal that protects public services, tackles societal inequalities and discriminations, provides livelihood security, and creates a buoyant economy that can fight the climate crisis. Towards Better forms the touchstone for policymakers in planning for a better future.

Greenpeace India, together with the inputs of individuals, organisations and academics who engaged in Covid-19 relief work and directly worked with vulnerable groups during the lockdown, has prepared Green Recommendations.

The key focus areas of Green Recommendations to our government through NITI Aayog are:

• Build a safe and nutritious food system that provides food security to all citizens by empowering farmers to move towards sustainable farming.
• Invest in soil health rejuvenation and traditional water conservation methods.
• Protect the health of every Indian by phasing out fossil fuels and leading a transition to clean renewable energy and transport technologies.

We’re calling on each and every Indian citizen to stand up and demand that the government strategize a green recovery plan that will move our country towards a better future post-COVID-19.<.p>

Farmers across India are raising their voice for a better tomorrow and now, we need you to join us in demanding a sustainable, inclusive and a socially just future for all.
