Recruitment Internship (DC)

The Recruitment intern will work closely with our Talent Acquisition team in reaching its goals through a combination of administrative support and project work.

Overview of where position fits within greater organization
The intern will work directly with the Talent Acquisition team. The team has staff in Washington, DC, and New York, NY, and reports to the Talent Acquisition Specialist II, Ishmael Herod in Washington, DC.

Project Details

The mission of the People & Culture (P&C) department is to support Greenpeace’s strategic vision and goals by recruiting and retaining diverse, passionate and exceptional team members; providing proactive services that foster a friendly and collaborative work experience; administering policies and benefits that protect both staff and the organization; and promoting a strategic and interactive staff development program to aid staff in reaching their full potential.

Expected Project Deliverables
Posting job announcements, scheduling, coordinating interviews, screening viable candidates, responding to applicant inquiries, monitoring usage of our Applicant Tracking System, and other administrative tasks as necessary. The intern will also help with clerical tasks such as photocopying and covering the reception desk (1 – 2 hours per week). Other potential projects include conducting research and making recommendations to improve existing People & Culture programs.

Skills Required
The ideal candidate would have an interest in human resources and/or recruitment, experience using computer programs including Microsoft Office suite and some data entry or database use, strong written and verbal communication skills, and high attention to detail.

Skills Intern Will Gain Post-internship
The intern will gain a deep understanding of talent acquisition processes . They will also learn how to operate in an office environment that requires them to be consistently engaged. Multi-tasking and prioritization is especially difficult in the uncertain world of environmental and social justice campaigns. The intern will gain experience navigating that aspect of the work along with learning about best practices for strategic planning.
