Our vision

Fossil fuel companies will fight tooth and nail to keep us locked to the path that gives them a few more years of profit – the path that sends us careering off a cliff. We must fight equally hard – harder – to grab the opportunity to take control of our own destiny. It may be our last chance. We are the ones we have been waiting for. We are the generation that goes beyond coal and oil.

Coal
Greenpeace and Tcktcktck volunteers raise a wind turbine on the beach at dawn in Durban, South Africa. To send a message of hope for the latest round of UN climate change talks opening here on Monday. Campaigners say Durban must be a new dawn for the international negotiations to agree a fair, ambitious and legally binding treaty to avert climate chaos. They are demanding that politicians stop listening to the polluting corporations and listen to the people who want an end to our dependence on fossil fuels. Africa is on the front line of dangerous climate change, with millions already suffering the impacts through increased drought and extreme weather events, threatening lives and food security.
Energy Revolution
Mochovce Nuclear Power Plant, Slovakia
Construction started on the Mochovce Nuclear Power Plant in the 1980s but was subsequently stopped due to financial concerns. The project restarted in the 1990s and the first two towers (2 x 470MW) were finished and brought on-line in 1998 and 1999. The next two towers are currently under construction (planned to be brought into operation in 2013/2014) but are facing a delay. Defend the Amazon Reef Protest in Maranhão, Brazil
Greenpeace activists in Maranhão, Brazil, protest against TOTAL’s plans to drill near the Amazon Reef and illustrate the risks of an oil spill in the region. The aim of this action is to raise awareness amongst TOTAL customers about the risks of drilling in such a sensitive area, less than 30 km away from the reef. This global day of action is part of a campaign led by Greenpeace since the Amazon Reef was revealed in 2016 and photographed for the first time this year. An expedition undertaken by the organization in January 2017 with a team of scientists captured the first underwater images of the reef. But there is still so much to discover. According to scientists, only 5% of the reef has been explored.
