In addition to doing important work with great colleagues and being lucky to enjoy what we do, we also offer full medical and dental coverage, paid leave, and other great benefits.

Health/Dental Plan

We allow employees to make contributions with pre-tax earnings, rather than after-tax, to the following health benefits:

Cigna Health Care – This dual plan allows new hires to enroll in the HMO and PPO plans on their date of hire, without a waiting period.  The plans include dental, hospitalization, and as a premier plan, also inlcudes domestic partner coverage.

Flexible Spending Account – Allows staff to put aside pre-tax dollars to pay for medical costs not covered under the above plan and also child care payments.

Paid Leave

Vacation

  • 0 – 2 years of employment = 3 weeks per year
  • 2 – 5 years of employment = 4 weeks per year
  • 5 +   years of employment = 5 weeks per year

Sick: 10 sick days per year during entire employment

Holidays

  • New Year’s Day and the day after
  • Martin Luther King Day
  • Presidents’ Day
  • Memorial Day
  • Juneteenth
  • Independence Day
  • Labor Day
  • Indigenous People’s Day
  • Veteran’s Day
  • Thanksgiving and the day after
  • Christmas Eve through New Year’s Eve

Personal Days: 2 personal days per year

Sabbatical: After 5 years of service, staff are entitled to 12 weeks sabbatical for career advancement

Paid Parental Leave: 20 weeks of paid leave for the birth/adoption of a child (eligible after 1 year of employment)

Other Benefits

Public Transportation Allowance: To encourage the use of public transportation, Greenpeace provides up to $40/month in public transportation passes. Alternatively, Greenpeace has a bike benefit program to support the purchase, use, and storage of bikes and bike accessories for employees who commute via bicycle.

401(K) Retirement Savings Plan (with employer match): All full-time staff who have completed 180 days of service are eligible to invest, through pre-tax payroll deductions, in a variety a variety of funds, including socially responsible options. Greenpeace employees enjoy generous 6% 401(k) matching. Newly hired staff with existing 401(k) funds may immediately “roll” them into the Greenpeace Retirement Savings Plan.

U.S. Premiere Credit Union: Greenpeace employees that open and maintain a minimum balance of $5.00 in a savings account can enjoy all credit union services.

Long- and Short-term Disability: After 90 days of employment, all full-time staff is eligible for both long- and short-term disability insurances.  Greenpeace also offers a life insurance policy  for all full-time employees.
