Mackinac Center for Public Policy

Koch Industries Climate Denial Front Group

$590,151 from Koch foundations, 2001-2017

The Michigan-based Mackinac Center spreads climate change denial and smears prominent climate policy consultants. It has repeatedly promoted the unscientific reasoning of Patrick Michaels, a voice central in the climate denial movement. Mackinac’s Tom Gantert, who has no scientific qualification, has attacked the scientific consensus of global warming’s existence and causes and promoted the false notion that emails hacked from climate scientists disproved global warming (multiple investigations repeatedly exonerated the scientists involved and had no impact on the science of climate change).

Mackinac is part of the State Policy Network, a network of state-level organizations that front for corporate interests and are often involved in coordinated climate science denial.
