Why this matters

In 2010, world governments agreed to take immediate action to prioritise the protection of the world's remaining forests. Despite this promise, the governments of Canada, Russia, Finland and Sweden still allow companies to destroy huge parts of the Great Northern Forest. And companies such as tissue giant, Essity, still source from ancient forests.
But today people are stepping forward to join a movement to defend the Great Northern Forest.

The problem

Containing nearly 25% of all trees on the planet, and home to many Indigenous Peoples, as well as spectacular wildlife such as Siberian tigers, bears and wolves. The forest also helps to regulate our planet and keep us cool. Despite it's great importance, only 3% of this magnificent forest is protected.
We must come together and act to protect the Great Northern Forest. If we allow logging to wipe away this forest, we will lose the battle against climate change. What happens to this amazing forest will affect us all.

What you can do

It contains nearly 25% of all trees on the planet. Yet only 3% of this magnificent forest is protected.
