Why this matters

We are in a climate emergency which has already cost countless lives. As extreme storms, floods, drought, and fires become stronger and more frequent, we’re also witnessing the collapse of nature and mass extinction. Children in cities are choking on toxic air, while communities on the frontline of oil extraction have faced destruction and human rights abuses at the hands of the oil industry for decades. We are fighting for a world where oil companies are no longer allowed to poison our bodies, our environment, or our democracy.

The problem

The 25 biggest fossil fuel companies are responsible for the majority of the pollution that has triggered the climate crisis. The science is simple: the path to a safe future cannot include oil. But oil companies are still spending billions to hunt for new oil, lobbying our politicians to block climate action, misleading the public through their advertising and sponsorships, and attempting to silence those who challenge them. We are calling for oil to stay in the ground, accountability from the oil and car industries, and a just transition for people and planet.

People vs Oil

From the stunning Great Australian Bight to the rough seas of the Amazon Reef off the coast of Brazil, and from the icy waters of the Norwegian Arctic to the arid steppes of Patagonia, people are uniting across borders to protect land and water from the oil industry. Thousands are also calling for healthier cities with cleaner air and driving the car industry toward a bright new future. Join us.

What you can do

Building a safe future for all life on Earth means taking on one of the world’s most powerful industries. This is no small task, but when millions of us come together to protect what is most important we can change the world for the better.
