25 May, Tokyo, Japan – Greenpeace Japan has issued the following statement in response to the Japanese Government lifting the State of Emergency:

“While the COVID-19 state of emergency has been fully lifted by the Government, the climate emergency continues to threaten us all. Public health and our environment are closely related. We need to move forward with climate emergency measures to minimize the risk of future infectious diseases.

Greenpeace Japan strongly urges the Japanese government to promote a ‘green recovery’, including climate emergency measures, in order to reduce the risk of future infections and to boster a resilient society and economy.”
