Direct Marketing/Planned Giving Internship (DC)

The Direct Marketing/Planned Giving intern will join a team working to send out correspondence via mail and email to our one time, lower level and mid level donors. While also helping when needed with our Planned Giving/legacy projects.

Overview of where position fits within greater organization
The intern will work directly with the Direct Marketing Coordinator, Planned Giving Specialist, and team staff. The team has staff in DC.

Expected Project Deliverables
The intern will provide support when needed to both teams. Intern will work on our joint allocation direct marketing cost reconciliations. This will be a rolling project that they can work on throughout the three month internship. Intern will also proofread/edit mailings and Compass magazine copy, along with weekly acknowledgements sent out to donors. The intern will also help our Development Assistant when needed with filing needs, processing checks, etc. Planned Giving team will have intern assist with monthly email series as well.

Well organized and the ability to prioritize and multitask

Preferred Skills
Word and Excel proficiency preferred
Well versed in Google docs and sheets
Interest in learning about the inner workings of nonprofits

Skills Intern Will Gain Post-internship
The intern will gain a deep understanding of marketing production and best practices, while operating in a professional environment that often requires quick turn around. They will also learn how to operate in an office that requires them to be consistently engaged, and able to adapt. They will learn fundamental skills that they can expand on in future career endeavors, while simultaneously learning about the inner workings of nonprofits.
