This is an assault on our right to choose what’s best for our bodies, our health, our lives.

This is an assault on our right to choose what’s best for our bodies, our health, our lives.

In response to the United States Supreme Court overturning Roe v Wade, Ebony Twilley Martin, Greenpeace USA co-Executive Director, said:

“Greenpeace USA is beyond disappointed that the Supreme Court overturned Roe v Wade. The consequences will be devastating, and we know exactly who will be most impacted: poor women of color. Women who lack access to money or birth control or health care. Women who cannot get emergency care after sexual assault. This is an assault on our right to choose what’s best for our bodies, our health, our lives. Racism, economic insecurity, and immigration status multiply the already massive barriers to abortion care. So, our solutions must include racial, economic, and immigrant justice.

Greenpeace USA is among a coalition of environmental groups that have called on Congress to support the addition of four seats to restore balance to the Supreme Court. Today’s ruling is exactly the reason why. This ruling tears down a long held protection on women’s rights and opens the door for future attacks on our health and our already corroding democracy. Our democracy and the rule of law are both at stake here. This decision will change the course of history as we know it– but we will fight back. We will stand with everyone impacted by this decision. Our fight gains strength NOW.”
