India needs freedom from illiteracy n pollution n dishonesty.

We need freedom from bigotry. We need freedom of the mind

All the points mentioned were good. There is rampant corruption in waste management, etc., there is poverty and lack of money, food, there is pollution of water and air due to traffic, plastic, garbage. But nobody has mentioned that all these ills happen because we don't reproduce responsibly. When a person can barely manage to survive, what can he/she expect for his/her child, with improper nutrition, medical and educational attention. The parents/child can only think of survival in its most primitive form. Caring for the environment cannot come before a bellyfull of food. Of course, with such thinking the planet will die. But the poorer people are anyway the living dead. But the responsiblity is their own.

I would say we need independence from over-population.

All harm caused by us to Nature, including all types of Pollution.

I think the most important issue is corruption, because none of the other problems will go away before corruption. All have to be tackled, though. There is no time to waste.

Pollution is a burning problem in crowded cities like Kolkata. India as declared as most polluted country by WHO. Every citizen has some responsibilities to make it more clean green city with population problem. In every second 3 children born in India . Our nation, which has been one of the ideals as a diversity on grounds of religion, forest, animals and many more but today we are fighting with our biggest foes in form of pollution not only of physical surroundings but the thoughts as well. Social media has become the catalyst in diving sects, thoughts and unity. "Plastics" now i believe we have realised is our greatest hurdle in clean environment programs, not only that but all the bottles, wrappers, even milk and juice packs have added more of junk to the rivers and the oceans. We have to start one by one from the polythene bags first and stop its use and promote more and more of alternatives. People have already started this holy service for our mother nature. Independence from Plastic would be true freedom of motherland. Jai hind!

India needs freedom from highly skewed income distribution or a bad Gini coefficient. That will help achieve at least freedom from hunger, malnutrition, diseases, illiteracy, bad quality education, homelessness, quashing of dignity, loss of self respect.

in my opinion, if the priorities are categorised will be as follows: 1.Corruption free Administration. 2. Banning of the corrupted and dishonest Minister, Govt, Administrator and any officials involved immortal activities. 3. Limiting the people to go for election for a maximum period like two terms for any election. 4.controlling all kind of pollution. 5. Banning oil(petrol/diesel) run vehicles) run vehicles. 6. Banning strikes, Dharna, Gherao immediately. 7. Fixing the one education system i,e one nation one education policy. 8. Fixing the one law policy i,e one nation one law applicable for every indians.

I think we have toooo much of freedom which our people are misusing in every field. We need to be disciplined. This is the need of the hour. Most of our problems get solved if we are disciplined.

And what about the overheated real estate market, where people had to run to stay in the same place now they run but move a few steps back. Where is the mindspace to think of the environment. If being corrupt helps you stay in place instead of going backwards, so be it. Instead of talking contentment, gurus of today are encouraging people to believe, to want to become billionaires. Don't these gurus know resources are finite, if one gets billions there are billions who get nothing. Why they appeal to the greed in humans beats me. In everything it again comes back to supply and demand, only if the demand decreases will there be some sanity. Unfortunately our economies can't think. Prices of some of the saddest items which the poorest of poor buy have so inflated, the reason being there is a lot of demand. There is a demand for those sad things because poverty can't afford anything better. So demand can only decrease when there are fewer mouths to feed. Reproduce responsibly. Otherwise it will be survival of the fittest-the law of jungle. If individuals are not responsible, a government, an NGO, can only do so much, we are to blame. Since economics is not human and does not have a conscience, people have to take the responsibility of decreasing the demand.

Indeed you are right. The nature are very complex if the agriculture spend too much poison for example. All counties must be work together to solve many problems.

India needs freedom from corruption which is the very root-cause of all kinds of problems. Until the people transform to be responsible citizens, we can never expect clean administration and good governance. Until we ensure clean n good governance through electoral reforms and stringent anti-corruption laws, we can never expect any kind of important reforms. This will lead to continuing life with all kinds of pollutions as well.

Since Independence, India got worse in the following: 1. Bribery to get anything done in a small scale, and corruption in the large scale. 2. Uncontrolled and selfish expansion of the population. 3. At lower levels (that ordinary people deal with), authoritarianism. You have to call everyone (including a tax collector, telephone lines installer etc.) (atleast in Tamilnadu) 'Sir' along with 'extra emoluments' to get anything done. 4. Lack of politeness and sometimes arrogance in proportion to richness. 5. Pollution, dirt, ... (Even before Independence, even 300 years ago, if you read travellers' reports, Indians in general did not worry the least about littering anywhere and everywhere).

Lack of value for human life is one of the most important reasons why environmental problems are not resolved in India. The Bhopal Gas Tragedy of 1984 ( Union Carbide Case) is a glaring example of this. Despite the large scale destruction(and of course, loss of life), the judiciary did not take swift action not to mention that the Supreme Court showed leniency towards Union Carbide and reduced it's damages to $470 million, much lesser than what should have been paid. To top it off, UN’s special rapporteur on hazardous substances and wastes has expressed concerns that the Bhopal disaster victims may never be compensated post the Dow-DuPont merger.

Govt must make it mandatory for all citizens to compost their organic waste . Ban plastics and Use earthen pots for composting . All those who litter and pollute the environment should be fined and punished

Ban the use of fossil fuels like coal and petrol and promote renewable energy like solar , wind , biogas , etc and automatically corruption in every form will end . No one will need to even fight against corruption because it wont exist . Why ? Energy is power and energy to the people means freedom . So no more the people will be tied to the grid feeding these greedy corporations and the bankers .
