As the summer season is expected to bring higher than normal temperatures to most parts of India, Delhi is likely to experience a hot summer with a potential heatwave enveloping the city. If appropriate facilities are not provided, high summer temperatures can make bus journeys difficult, uncomfortable, and pose health problems. Therefore, the Public Transport Forum, Delhi and Greenpeace India are trying to draw the Delhi Transport Corporation’s attention to the need for a Heatwave Action Plan for public buses and urge the authorities to introduce measures that can help reduce the impact of heatwave conditions on bus users and workers.
