  • Greenpeace activists are protesting against the climate-damaging extraction of fossil natural gas around 20 kilometers northwest of the North Sea island of Borkum after the authorities in Lower Saxony approved the planned drilling here. The climate activists from Germany and the Netherlands have anchored three floating islands at the destination of the production platform, which is expected to arrive. Other activists are demonstrating in rubber dinghies and kayaks for the protection of the Wadden Sea, their flags and banners bearing the slogans “Gas destroyed!” and “No New Gas”.
