On International Black Sea Action Day, the sea has reached the institutions in Bulgaria. Greenpeace Bulgaria activists presented the Ministry of Environment with a buoy from an abandoned mussel farm and submitted a petition for the creation of a marine sanctuary. The buoy was removed from abandoned mussel farms in the area of cape "Maslen nos" in the Southern part of the Bulgarian Black Sea. The farms have been abandoned since 2018 when the owners disappeared without a trace and the institutions are tossing the responsibility to one another. For years, the plastic ropes and other gear from the farm have been breaking down and polluting the waters and nearby beaches, thus causing damage to marine biodiversity. Greenpeace - Bulgaria is demanding active protection of the Black Sea and today we are submitting a petition supported by more than 15,000 people.

Greenpeace activists protest in front of the Palácio do Planalto, in Brasília, against the anti environmental agenda of the Bolsonaro government, symbolically taking the oil spill in the Northeast region of Brazil and burnt Amazon trees to the official workplace of the President of Brazil. Everyday, the Bolsonaro government positions itself as an enemy of the environment. The slow pace in solving problems - from the oil spill in the Northeast region washing up on beaches to the forest fires consuming the Amazon - is a consequence of the environmental setbacks promoted by the government, which keeps Brazil in the spotlight when it comes to neglecting the environment.
