Once again our elected leaders have been fooled by the false choice between a healthy economy and a healthy planet. We will have neither if our government continues to sanction the limitless production and export of oil and gas.

WASHINGTON DC (June 2, 2023)–In response to the Fiscal Responsibility Act being signed into law, Alice Madden, Policy and Political Director at Greenpeace USA, said: “There will be no economy on a dead planet. Speaker McCarthy held our country hostage in order to sell out communities to the oil and gas executives. The rollbacks on environmental protections and public input contained in this bill are flat out handouts to polluters who are already contaminating our air and water while driving us toward climate catastrophe. Once again our elected leaders have been fooled by the false choice between a healthy economy and a healthy planet. We will have neither if our government continues to sanction the limitless production and export of oil and gas.”
