“Green Cup Polo” Raises Climate Change Awareness

greencup1Grunting and glistening, eight thoroughbred horses thunder down a field at 30 miles per hour as the polo players on their backs jockey to reach a ball that is rolling fast in front of them.

With a loud crack, one of the players mallets makes contact with the ball and sends it sailing through the goal posts. The crowd on the sidelines roars with enthusiasm.

Its no wonder why the Green Cup Polo match has been called “the countrys most exciting environmental charity event.”

This past weekend, the sport of kings once again tackled the issue of runaway climate change.

greencupOn Saturday, September 7th, the Capitol Polo Club hosted the 7th Annual Green Cup just outside of Washington, DC.

The Green Cup Polo weekend brings together people who are committed to the conservation and protection of the environment through a thrilling exhibition polo match.

The purpose of the event is to raise awareness and funds for several environmental non-profits and alternate energy sources.

Diplomats from fifteen international embassies, including representatives from Greenpeace USA, were the guests of Dr. Robert T. Do, co-founder and president of the Capitol Polo Club and Green Cup Polo.

By providing a unique sporting and entertainment event focused on promoting a sustainable environment, Dr. Dos organization is helping lead the way to a green and peaceful future.
